How long does flooring installation take?
A single room typically takes two to four days including prep, while a whole home usually runs one to two weeks depending on material, subfloor condition, and acclimation time. Hardwood and tile need more prep and cure time than floating floors, and we give you a realistic schedule in your estimate rather than an optimistic one.
Should I choose hardwood, engineered wood, or luxury vinyl plank?
Solid hardwood offers the longest life and can be refinished many times, but it is sensitive to moisture and best over wood subfloors. Engineered wood gives you a real wood surface with better stability, which makes it a strong choice over concrete slabs. LVP is waterproof, durable, and the most forgiving in wet areas and busy households, though it cannot be refinished. We will tell you honestly which one fits each room, even when the answer is the less expensive option.
Do you level subfloors before installing?
Yes, always. We check every floor for flatness, grind high spots, fill low areas with self-leveling compound, secure loose panels, and moisture test concrete slabs before installation. Skipping this step is the number one cause of failed floors, so we never do.
Can you match my existing floors?
Often, yes. We can match species, plank width, and stain closely, and in many hardwood projects we can weave new boards into the existing floor so the repair blends in. Exact matches to aged or discontinued materials are not always possible, and we will show you samples in your home before committing rather than promising a match we cannot deliver.
Do I need to move out during installation?
Usually not. Most clients stay home while we work room by room, contain dust, and keep pathways clear. For whole-home projects or floors with strong adhesives and finishes, we will tell you upfront if certain days are better spent elsewhere.
